Happy Friday Everyone! I hope everyone took advantage of whatever springtime weather showed up in your town this week. To Celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month I have a fun credit card fact. In 1950 the first credit card with issued – it was called the Diner’s Club card. Frank McNamara conjured up the idea when he was in New York for dinner and had forgot his wallet at home. He and his business partner Ralph Schneider would invent the Diners Club as a way to pay without carrying cash.BUTIt wasn’t until 1974 with the passing of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act that a women could be issued a credit card. Today:• US women have open more credit card accounts (4.5) compared to US men (3.6)• US men have a higher credit card balance ($6,357) compared to US women ($6,232) on average• The average credit score for US women is 704 compared to 705 for US men• 2012 there was an Amendment to the CARD Act – the amendment allowed for stay-at-home
How do I invert my Zoom background to look like a mirror? I have a cool background but has letters and I can't make it work the right way, it is always inverted and looks terrible.
In today's world, where technology like AI is everywhere, some things might seem old-fashioned. But recently, something happened at Dollar Tree that showed how important checks can still be, even with all the new tech. And we'll sprinkle in a little flavor from some cool Zoom products too! At Dollar Tree, someone wanted to pay with a check. It's not something you see every day, especially when we're used to swiping cards or using phones to pay. But it happened, and it made us think about the good old days when checks were more common. The cashier had to take a moment to make sure everything was okay. In a world where companies like Zoom make cool features to help people work together better, seeing someone write a check felt kind of different. But what happened next was nice. The cashier carefully checked the check to make sure it was real. It took a bit longer, but it was worth it. It felt like a special moment, where two people connected over something simple, like a piece o

“There would be no Ready Set Push without Zoom,” Kiana Ayers said. Through her nonprofit, Ready Set Push, she runs virtual prenatal classes and support groups while still working as a registered nurse on the side. “The ease of the Zoom platform and the way that I can access it, no matter where I am, has made it possible to continue to keep this sustainable.” To Kiana, continuing her work is literally a matter of life and death. As an obstetrics nurse at a large Medicaid Company, she saw firsthand the challenges low-income Black families faced with prenatal care: If they couldn’t afford a class, or had no access to one in their neighborhood, their risk of preterm labor increased – and with it, infant and maternal mortality. Without preparation and support, these families faced an uncertain, even terrifying, experience in the healthcare system. “[Mothers] were afraid to go to the hospital, because they were afraid they were g
Just thought I'd post a great video I came across today illustrating the difference between optical and digital zoom in conferencing cameras. Please think about this when designing Zoom Rooms! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-8oGqcu330 (please be sure to watch in 1080) Those of you who have been in the game for more than a few years know all of this already, but this simple comparison is a great primer for IT/facilities teams that have fallen into the roles of traditional AV/UC teams to understand why the digital-zoom cameras being touted as 'revolutionary' often fall short in the image department, despite inflated-resolution specs. While digital-zoom can be a more scalable solution, my team and I personally feel that any space larger than a small/huddle room needs a true optical-zoom camera in order to compete with the quality of a standard MacBookPro webcam. Grainy video from conference rooms is a terrible look, and it's unfortunate that products cost
